Crevices Park
This plot is located in a densely populated neighbourhood, where fissures have formed in the ground due to the sinking of the city from the extraction of water from underground aquifers, destabilising the ancient lakebed soil. How can these open wounds become an opportunity for a forest to grow?
These cracks inspired our design, using the crevices as a means to regenerate an urban forest. Rubble from demolished concrete slabs is used as scales to protect and enhance the contours of the crevices. The ruptured topography contrasts with the grid of pathways, allowing visitors to move smoothly through the space. The park, currently under construction, will feature native, fast-growing, and well-adapted shrubs and trees. The project also includes a large pond, a bike park, volcanic courtyards, and native hedgerows along the streets that open to the city.
