Desert is Forest

The inspiration for this project came from the semi-deciduous and desert forest of Baja California. Through research and field trips, we gained a deep understanding of the richness of this natural environment. Careful observations of its density and dynamic across the changing seasons shaped our approach. The proximity of water-storing cacti species, such as Lysiloma candidum, growing alongside forest trees, highlights their interrelationship. In the garden, we defined entrances for the wildflowers naturally return. The overall strategy was to establish clear boundaries between the sand and the vegetation, enhancing the human experience while allowing the natural environment to remain undisturbed.
